Hey
ranchers this is Sheriff Garrett. Greg's taking me to the train station
in the morning. Its raining again here in California but that's not
stopping me Sam. I'm on your trail. I'm going to miss California. I
got some good clues here. I feel bad Sam took all Greg's horse tradin'
money and some guns. I will catch up too you Sam. Greg's niece was a
big help she told me Sam conned her into making him that scarf. She
said somthing about Sam was heading off to some cold country. And when
I met Elder Red Hawk and we smoked the pipe and he had a vision that
Cobra went to the Land of the Indians that his people came from a land
to the East that is known today to the white people as Indiana. Well
I put two and two together. I may be wrong, but I'm takin a chance on
it. I'm going to miss California. It was a good stay. Greg's mom treated
me good. And man that Greg does some good eatin. We had a steak as big
as a side of Cattle that first night. On Valintines Day we went to the
Red Lobster and had some Lobster in paradise. Greg showed me all his
fine ponies. They whised me well on my journey. I'm gettin' some sleep
and come sun up I'm off.

Howdy Ranchers,
This is Sheriff
Pat Garrett reporting that I'm still following Runaway Sam
Cobra's trail of crime across the country. I arrived in the Land of
Indians today and, boy, it is cold in Indiana! Fortunately, Professor
Jim has plenty of clues for me to follow up on, so I'll be busy enough
to ignore the cold.
From what he
tells me, there are is a whole gang of outlaws operating
here. I'll be working with Johnny West to rid this Midwestern Hideout
of their troubles. I especially want to catch some of the ruffians who
helped Sam Cobra with his recent misdeeds. I'm looking for a blonde
lady gunfighter, in particular. From what Jim and Johnny West tell me,
I think she is not very pleased with ole' Sam. If I can capture her,
I might be able to turn her against the renegade!
Well, I've got
to finish this cup of hot coffee and get to work. I hear that my old
arch nemesis, Billy the Kid, has been seen in these parts!
Still on the
trail of that dastardly outlaw,
Sheriff Garrett

Howdy Ranchers,
Are you ready
to join my posse? I think I know where Sam Cobra has gone! I'll be leaving
Indiana very soon and you all should be ready to help me out. Let me
fill you in on my activities here at Professor Jim's in the Land of
Indians.
First of all,
I've had a lot of help from some very cooperative citizens. Led by Johnny
West, the good people of the community have gone out of their way to
help me chase the notorious Sam Cobra. Johnny is the best friend a lawman
could have. He let me stay with him whenever I needed to, offering me
the hospitality of his sprawling Circle X Ranch. He and Jane fed me
meals and loaned me horses and equipment and the kids all pitched in
to welcome me as well. Johnny showed me around the area and that was
big help.
It has been very
cold and snowy here during my visit. Good thing that Johnny loaned me
an old Confederate Army coat that he had in a trunk. He took me to Ohio
and he showed me the places he took Sam Cobra and Gunfighter Ellen a
couple of weeks ago. That day was sunny, but cold. Overall, though,
I've had a hard time following Sam's wilderness movements, because the
new snow has covered old tracks and signs.
I've interviewed
a lot of people and almost everyone had something to tell me about Sam
Cobra. The local ranchers reported missing stock--Sam is quite
a rustler! He even stole ponies from the Indians. Chief Cherokee and
his
band welcomed me to their village and we parted friends. The Indians
asked
me to bring Sam back here when I capture him--they have a special sort
of death planned for him. They want to make him run the gauntlet a few
times, then they're going to get nasty. I didn't promise them anything,
telling
the Chief that Sam Cobra is a white man and must be punished according
to
the white man's law.
The Colonel,
an old Southerner who has a big ranch here, was a little
cool toward me--he suspected that I might be a Yankee! He has a bunch
of former Confederate soldiers who work for him as cowboys. They all
served in his command during the war. He has several beautiful daughters,
one of whom actually spent an afternoon being charmed by Sam Cobra.
Don Carlos, a
Mexican rancher, has a big hacienda and HIS daughters also
spent some time with Sam! They danced the night away with that scoundrel
a couple of times while he was here. They are GREAT dancers and when
the vaqueros started playing the guitar, they danced for me while I
talked with the Don and his wife.
I went to Pete
Maxwell's place and found Billy the Kid there. We used
to be friends, a long time back, before he went bad (or before I went
good, to
be more accurate!). But he was on my list of wanted men and when he
came
into the room where I was with a knife in his hand, I shot him dead.
Some
people are upset, saying I murdered him. But he was an outlaw. If I
hadn't shot him, he'd have probably ended up being a drug dealer and
his neighbors would have probably had to defend their children from
him in Kansas or something. No need to give the lawyers more work! I
just took care of the problem.
I visited with
some of the soldiers posted here and got their report. Bill Buck, a
cavalry scout, agreed to lead a posse for me. It was good thing, because
the citizens of the town came to me and asked me to form a posse to
clean out some of the outlaws. I did that and we've made some real progress.
One big help
has been the local law enforcement. Sheriff Goode, Agent Mike
Hazard, and several others have helped me out. I'm especially grateful
to the
deputy who took me around town and let me use the marshal's office and
the jail when I needed it.
I had a good
time interrogating the girls at the Wild Horse Saloon! Those saloon
girls are something else. I also found some time to dance with some
pretty ladies
at the dance hall. Local gamblers filled me on Sam's activities and
I visited the
casino where he spent a lot of time.
While organizing
my posse, I dropped by the Wild Horse to get some information
from some gamblers and, unbelievably, Gunfighter Ellen was sitting there
at
the poker table! What nerve! She is one bold lady--and beautiful, too.
I
see why Sam liked her. She tried to slip away from me, but I followed
her
and, with the deputy's help, I captured her. We threw her in jail and
I interrogated her for a long time. She gave us some valuable information
and,
when Mike Hazard showed her the French Artist disguise that he found,
she
admitted that she and Sam were the leaders of the gang that robbed the
bank! She is cooperating and her lawyer is trying to work a deal for
her to get a lighter sentence in exchange for information.
Well, with Ellen's
information, my posse was able to flush out the outlaw gang that worked
with Sam Cobra. Led by the Comanchero and Ahumado the
Black Vaquero, they are a really tough bunch. We chased them across
the
territory and found some of their hideouts, including an abandoned mine
where they had quite a set up. We captured some of them and shot a few
others. Johnny West and his ranch hands will be hanging men for a while
after I leave! I hear that the circuit judge is a "law-and-order
man" and they call him the Hanging Judge (although he isn't Judger
Parker).
Well, as I get
ready to head out of town, I want to report that Jim and Brenda have
been very cooperative. They gave me a nice journal so that I can take
notes and follow the case as I go. My "Cobra Notes" book will
be useful as this
chase continues. Better yet, Jim introduced me to a guy who wants to
go with me on my journey across the country. He calls himself Indy Jones
(he has a vintage Johnny head on a reissue Custer body) and he just
got out of the cavalry. He has a silver (reissue) cavalry pistol and
an old pair of handcuffs (broken and poorly repaired--came in a box
this week). If and when we come to
your place, please help me outfit this guy. He needs a makeover--his
hair has some serious rubs and he needs more personality. And stuff!
Professor Jim and Johnny West assure me that he is a good guy, but they
both suspect that his name is an alias and that he has a past that isn't
so good. But he is honest now. Or, at least, he wants revenge! Apparently
he lost every last cent he had to Sam Cobra in a poker game. And Sam
stole his horse. On top of all of that, Sam shot his brother a few years
back and left him a cripple. Oh, and I hear that Indy Jones was in love
with one of the saloon girls who dumped him for just one evening with
the charming outlaw . . . .
So, anyway, my
new deputy really hates Sam Cobra and keeps talking about being anxious
to kill that "@%#$^$*#$@&@". I'll have to keep an eye
on this guy or he'll try to kill Cobra before I get a chance to recover
any of the stolen goods. Or Sam will kill him!
Well, it is late
at night and I'm going to get some rest. Professor Jim is going to
a conference this weekend, so I probably won't get out of town until
Monday. Before I go, I'll send along some pictures of my visit here.
Jim got a lot of photos of me in action--including my shooting Billy
the Kid! I'm going to frame that one for my office wall . . .
Ranch Hands,
get your shootin' irons ready, 'cause the Sheriff is on the way! We'll
catch Sam Cobra one way or the other . . .
Your friendly
neighborhood law dog,
Sheriff Pat Garrett

Pat
Garrett here. I have just left Rochester NY. I have had a long
journey with Gunfighter Ellen, and indy Jones the past month. It took
us 35 days to get to rochester. The upstate weather was nasty, and we
came by foot. Getting there in one piece was our number one
"priority", it just took us longer (much longer) than the
2-3 days we
hoped for. While in Rochester we did see a few nice days in the 50's
(so they call nice in NY), and we enjoyed the visit. I personally had
a
chance to speak with jesse James for answers, but he was little help.
I
also received clues left behind for Jane. I received her purse, and
bandana to bring with me on the search for her. Sheriff Goode updated
me
on the situation, and showed me where the purse and bandana were found.
We have a pretty clear direction of where Sam went and hopefully will
find Jane in one piece. I also had the fortune of meeting Johhny West
and giving him reassurance we will find Jane. Johnny gave us plenty
to
eat and gave us full cooking supplies, pots, pans, plates, fire pit
etc
to take on our Journey to the South/West. The supplies will help in
case
of any future delays. We got pretty hungary the past month on the road.
We also picked up 2 canteens full of water as well, and a hat and
holster for Indy. Stay tuned folks, we are back on the road, rested,
fed, and ready to get Cobra. Hopefully we can get pictures of our visit
posted soon. These clues will help you piece together the events here
in
Rochester.
Sincerlely yours,
Sheriff Pat Garrett
w/ Deputy Indy Jones, Gunfighter Ellen

Howdy
ranchers,
Gunfighter Ellen
here... What... Of course I can write! That moron
Indy Jones thinks that because I am blond and pretty, I can't write.
O.K guys, just
a few words to let you know that after 16 days in our
carton carriage, we have finally reached the province of Quebec.
According to Sheriff Garrett, Sam Cobra was seen here not so long ago.
Jane, Pat, Indy
and I will search for some clues here for a few days.
It looks like
a friendly enough place. The green indians are peaceful
and I have been told that a certain Jimmy West is single and
particularly handsome. I like my men...What?...O.K...O.K.
We are supposed
to meet the town's sheriff soon. He may have some
information for us.
So we are going
to find a place to stay for the night and start early
tomorrow.
One of us will
inform you again in the coming days.
Gunfighter Ellen.

Garrett
here,
We finally found four horses to reach St-Hyacinthe. I knew there was
an event with rich ladies and was affraid that Jesse James had a plan
to rob the blue saphir.
Unfortunatly , I was right and we arrived too late to capture him. We
found the ladies alarmed and Miss Canary was lying on the floor...What
a cad that Jesse.
Anyhow , being a gentleman , I had to forget Jesse for now and took
care of this poor lady.
After , we had
a meeting and decided that I'll go and see what happened with the ambush.
My friends Johnty and the twins Cowboy Kids have tended to the indians
in order to capture Sam.
Meanwhile, the posse kept on running to the south.
When I arrived
in the woods , I met the cowboys but they were in poor shape and wounded...the
indians were great warriors and many weapons to fight with.
Of course Sam took advantage and profited of the situation to escaped.
So, now, there
is no choice left. I will meet the indian Shaman not far from here.
In his prayers ,he will see were Cobra is !
This Shaman lives hidden in the woods and a great warrior always guards
the tepee to protects him...
I'll have to be very careful.
Sheriff Garrett.
